Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect when you browse RK Designs, send a message, subscribe to our newsletter, or shop with us — and how we look after that information.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

Who we are

RK Designs is a furniture studio and workshop in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. We design and make small-batch sheesham, teak, and mixed-material furniture for homes across India.

For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, RK Designs is the data fiduciary for personal information collected through this website. You are the data principal.

Information we collect

We only ask for what we need to reply to you, fulfil an enquiry or order, or send updates you have requested.

  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message. You also confirm that you have read this policy before sending.
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe from the footer or elsewhere on the site.
  • Direct messages: anything you share when you email, call, WhatsApp, or visit the studio — for example a brief, measurements, or delivery notes.
  • Shopping: items you add to your cart are stored in your browser. If you give us a name, phone number, and delivery address at checkout, we use those details to process the order.
  • Technical data: standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and working.

How we use your information

We use personal information for the reasons you would reasonably expect when you reach out to a furniture studio.

  • To reply to collection questions, orders, custom-furniture briefs, and studio-visit requests.
  • To send newsletter updates about new arrivals, stories, and offers — only if you have subscribed.
  • To fulfil, pack, and deliver pieces you order, and to follow up on aftercare.
  • To keep the website reliable, prevent abuse, and improve how the pages work.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only when it is needed to run the studio or when the law requires it.

  • Trusted service providers who host this website, store messages and subscriber lists, send email, or help deliver furniture — each under instructions to use the data only for that work.
  • Courier and logistics partners, if you place an order that needs shipping.
  • Authorities, if we are legally required to disclose information.

Cookies and local storage

The public site uses cookies and similar storage only as needed to function. Your cart is kept in your browser so items remain if you leave and come back. Staff login cookies are used only on the studio’s admin pages.

We do not currently run advertising or analytics cookies on this site. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept so we can continue a conversation and keep a record of custom work. Newsletter emails stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Order and delivery details are kept for as long as needed for fulfilment, warranty, accounts, and tax records, then removed or archived.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us to:

  • Confirm whether we hold personal data about you, and receive a copy of it.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erase personal data when it is no longer needed, or when you withdraw consent and we have no other lawful reason to keep it.
  • Withdraw consent for contact-form or newsletter use, without affecting earlier replies we already sent.

To make a request, email us using the address on this page. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you may also raise a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

This website is intended for adults shopping for furniture or commissioning custom work. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information — including encrypted connections to the site and restricted access to studio inboxes and admin tools. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when our practices or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
